Hawaii Restorative / Water Out of Hawaii Handles Loss in Kailua Town
Drew Chamberlain and Chuck Crimson of Hawaii Restorative / Water Out Oahu sent in photos this week as
well of a loss they handled in Kailua Town, Hawaii. “This is a picture of a job where 80% of the property was
saturated from a washer hose break - about 2100 sq ft, walls wet 2 - 3’ throughout. We dried it in 2 days.”
Thank you for the pictures Drew, and great job to all of you.

Hawaii Restorative handles loss at State Building
Drew Chamberlain of Hawaii Restorative, our Hawaii Water Out® members, sent in a great photo this week
from a loss at a State Building. “This is a job we completed this week. A fire sprinkler soaked 3 floors and a
basement - about 3500 sq ft each. We pumped 4’ of water out of the elevator shaft. The building was plaster
and lath construction. Hawaii Restorative dried it in 5 days with the Water Out® machine and our other equipment.”

Water Out Hawaii / Hawaii Restoration Handle Another Large Loss
Andrew Chamberlain of Water Out Hawaii / Hawaii Restorative sent in some great photos of a large loss they tackled earlier this month after a university flooded. “There was no power to many buildings including the library. Without central AC the humidity was rising quickly, approaching 80% and posing a threat to thousands of rare books and collections. The basement had 6-8’ of water and mud pass through it. Many of the non-load bearing walls were completely demolished and moved several feet from their original positions. Books, furniture, and debris were mixed together. There were even frogs and dead fish.

Each of the six floors of the library were about 70,000 square feet. Since the basement level was a total loss, priority was given to the upper five floors of the library. We had a crew of 12 on site, sealing the basement from the upper floors and installing generators and distributing drying equipment to control the rising humidity.

We stabilized the temperature and humidity where the books and collections were housed until the CAT team arrived. We used our trailer and 58 portable dehu units as well as numerous airmovers. The head librarian and preservationist were very pleased with our response and execution of the project. The media and University view Hawaii Restorative as the local hero.”
Excellent work, Drew and everyone at Hawaii Restorative!
